Frequently Asked Questions

Ahead of your stay at The Carlyon Bay Hotel, you may very well have some questions about your stay. To help you prepare for your Carlyon experience we have split our frequently asked questions into subsections to aid you in finding the answers to your questions. You’ll find them divided between hotel, dining, spa and golf.

Carlyon Bay Hotel

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on the hotel premises. This includes staying overnight or for a visit in the Terrace Lounge Bar. Pets are welcome at the Golf Club but only outside on the Terrace.

Our Inland facing rooms overlook a quiet road and the front of the hotel where the car park is situated.

There are a few rooms in the hotel that have a walk-in shower. If you require one for your stay, please call us at 01726 812304 (option 1) to ensure that you have one for your reservation. These rooms are not wet rooms and showers have a lip. For more information, please see our hotel access policy.

Guests may check in to their room from 3pm onwards. Guests may arrive earlier to complete paperwork and use the facilities, however, rooms are not guaranteed to be ready until 3pm.

We ask that guests vacate their rooms by 11am. We can offer a late checkout of 12pm but this is subject to availability.

Guests may still use the hotel facilities after they have checked out of their rooms.

We have eight EV charging points available at the hotel. To use the charging points, please download the 'Smappee' car charging app. Unfortunately, the electric charging points are not free and all charges will be made through the app.

Guests do not need to book breakfast times during their stay.

Our resident pianist plays in our Terrace Lounge Bar on three nights during the week.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take payments for gift vouchers over the phone. You can purchase a voucher online or by visiting us at Reception.

Our disabled entrance is at our Spa Main Entrance to the right-hand side of the hotel. If you require any assistance upon arrival or throughout your stay, please contact a member of our team or call the hotel reception. Please see our hotel access policy for more information.

We have a small lift that goes to every floor of the hotel. For dimensions, please see our hotel access policy.

Unfortunately, non-residents are not permitted to use the swimming pool. If you would like to use our Spa facilities, please book a Spa Day with our Spa Receptionists.

If you require any items of clothing to be cleaned, we can wash, tumble dry and iron the clothes, to be returned to the room. Unfortunately, we do not have dry cleaning services at the hotel and these will be sent away. Please contact reception for more information.

Carlyon Bay Dining

If you are staying with us at the hotel, you do not need to book a time to have a Cream Tea or an Afternoon Tea. 

A Cream Tea includes two fresh, warm, homemade scones, strawberry jam, Cornish clotted cream and a pot of freshly brewed ‘Cornish Grown’ tea or coffee.

An Afternoon Tea includes scones, various cakes and sandwiches, with a pot of freshly brewed ‘Cornish Grown’ tea or coffee.

All Cream Teas and Afternoon Teas are served between 2pm and 5pm every day. If you are not staying with us at the hotel, please call us at 01726 812304 or book online to make a reservation. 

There is currently no dress code in the Bay View Restaurant, however, we do ask that our guests are mindful of other guests. Guests are welcome to wear their dressing gowns in the Spa Bar if enjoying the spa facilities.

We recommend booking prior to arrival to ensure you get your preferred dining time in any of our restaurants. This can be booked at the time of reservation or any time prior to arrival. We cannot guarantee that your preferred time will be available upon arrival at the hotel.

Carlyon Bay Spa

Our Spa is open from 8am until 7pm every day. To use the facilities at the Spa, such as the swimming pool and sauna, you do not need to book a time to use them. We only require treatments to be booked with our Spa Reception.

Guests do not need to book a time to use the Spa facilities. We only require bookings for treatments with one of our specialists.

To book a Spa treatment, or check their availability, please call the Spa on 01726 811015 or email spa@carlyonbay.com. We recommend booking your spa treatments prior to your stay to ensure that you get the times that you require. We cannot guarantee that times will be available once you arrive. Treatments can be booked at the time of reservation or anytime prior to arrival.

Carlyon Bay Golf

We recommend booking prior to arrival to ensure you get your preferred tee time on our Championship golf course. This can be booked at the time of reservation or any time prior to arrival by calling the Pro Shop on 01726 814228 or email proshop@carlyonbay.com. We cannot guarantee that your preferred time will be available upon arrival at the hotel.

Use of the 9-hole approach is complimentary and unlimited throughout your stay.
