What's happened at the Carlyon Bay?
What a first few weeks since we once again reopened the doors!
From the first day, it has been great to have people back in the hotel. We have been delighted to welcome so many familiar faces, as well as many new ones after a long 5 months. The lounge and terrace have been full with guests back enjoying drinks & afternoon tea and the beds once again being slept in. The weather has been kind to us and for those wanting to enjoy a round of golf, the course is in excellent condition especially as we lead up to our Golf Festival Week. The outdoor pool has also been popular, heated to a balmy 32 degrees and the first school holiday period was enjoyed by many families.
Cornwall was in the spotlight for the G7 with our sister hotel, the Royal Duchy hosting several American news companies however, we were delighted to have been chosen as the hotel where both President Biden along with the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge were using as their base for their meeting with the Queen and the rest of the G7 leaders at the Eden Project. We were able to experience what could only be described as an "awesome" sight as Marine 1 and its associated escorts came over the trees on the Golf course before landing.
With 3 generations of the Royal Family all travelling on the Royal Train, it must have been surprising for them to look out the window as they were passing through the golf course to see the Royal Flight waiting in the grounds to whisk the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge home.
We were delighted to receive our 2021 AA 4 Silver Stars award, which is yet further recognition of the dedication and investment of the staff and Brend family within the hotel, along with the wealth of facilities available to our guests.
Our new Aix bar has been installed outside, where we will be selling the delicious Aix Provence Rosé to enjoy as you relax on the loungers on the terrace, or perhaps order one of our signature Cornish cocktails!
Meanwhile, within the hotel, our chefs have been cooking some amazing food, our new cocktails are going down exceptionally well and from the very first moment you are welcomed by the Guest Relations team, through to all the front of house staff and the bubbly housekeepers; the warm welcome we are so proud to be known for is still greeting you even behind the masks!
For those of you who are arriving soon, we look forward to welcoming you and whilst availability is limited through the summer, if you haven't booked already please do click Book Now and check availability.
